We are proud to announce that the All of Us Research Program has started returning health-related DNA results to participants! This is a big milestone for All of Us. We appreciate you taking this journey with us. By sharing your health story, you’re paving the way for new discoveries and a healthier future for all.
Today, we will update you on our progress returning health-related DNA results to participants who want them.
Offering health-related DNA results
In August, we launched a pilot test for health-related DNA results to nearly 1,000 participants. These participants were some of the first to provide a sample. They also had said “Yes” to the DNA Consent. We asked these participants to tell us whether they wanted to receive their Hereditary Disease Risk report, their Medicine and Your DNA report, both, or neither.
Then, All of Us got to work to make sure we are giving participants the most accurate results we have. Our labs analyzed participants’ DNA. Specially trained scientists confirmed the results and signed off on the reports. And All of Us staff set up a system for delivering these results. We can now confirm that we successfully notified the participants in our pilot group that their results are ready.
Thank you!
The pilot launch for health-related DNA results was a success. But this is just the beginning. We are working on ways to get you your DNA results, too. This includes genetic ancestry and traits and health-related DNA results. We appreciate your patience.
We want to thank you for helping us achieve this important milestone. We couldn’t do any of this without your participation. You are an essential part of helping us reach our goal of speeding up health research.
